Advent and Christmas
Advent (derived from the Latin word for "coming") begins on December 2, 2018 and marks the beginning of the church calendar. Traditionally, an Advent wreath is created in a circle (to symbolize "never ending" from evergreens and adorned with candles which are lit in succession each Sunday during Advent with a final candle lit on Christmas to announce the birth of our Savior.
Martin Luther deemed the use of the Advent wreath as a great learning tool to help children understand and anticipate the birth of Jesus.
So remember, while you're out shopping for the perfect gift this holiday season, to stop and appreciate the perfect gift we have already been given, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, born to save us all!
Celebrate the season safely and with joy!
